Dragon bag

Finally completed!  First the shoulder strap was too short.  The iron on dragon had to be stitched in by hand because it would not stick to the burlap.  Have you ever tried stitching an embroidered iron on?  Not an easy task!!!!But here is the finished product:

My Owl Bag

I bought an inexpensive straw bag in black and white (creamish?) for summer use.  It is large enough to carry all my things and any small purchases I may make.  But it needed an Owl:

Voila!   The cloth and thread were pretty near a perfect match.  I used the same pattern as before for my owl with a variegated black to gray thread.

Envelope Bags

These are small bags about the size of an envelope-- just the right size to use as an eyeglass case, a makeup case, or even an evening clutch-it fits right in the palm of your hand!

Ribbon Embroidery

These two blocks will go on a quilt (group project).  Everyone is working on two designs to contribute to the project.  I hope to add a picture of the result in the near future.

Hardanger

my first attempt at Hardanger
This was my first project/intro in Hardanger.  Counting threads and stitches has to be exact...I know because I had to pull out stitches more often than I put them in to get the pattern to come out.  I goofed in the border stitches and had to add another row around the edge to close off the work.

A good introduction into Hardanger can be found at the following website:  http://www.nordicneedle.com/CTGY/Hardanger101.html

Hi!

Just finished this owl!  In case you didn't get the hint from the title of the blog, I like owls.  I learned the basics of hardanger  last month and decided to play with it.  I went on-line and found a few pictures of owls done in hardanger but no free patterns.  My method was to sit with graph paper and try to copy a photo to make a pattern.  Once I got started I had to adjust some of the blocks but I am proud of my first attempt at an owl.
The original design was done by Janet Davies (http://www.jmddesigns.co.nz/blog.htm).  She has some really beautiful work on her blog, including several owls.
