Necktie Chatelaine

This was a fun project made with old ties.  I matched up two, sewed them together to about 6o inches length, and then added things to embellish and yet make a useful chatelaine for my sewing things.  Now I can sit with this around my neck and have everything ready while I work on my projects.
I put a cameo button and silver hand brooch along with crochet and hardanger work on the ties.
These two are for my scissors and pins.  I used felt and crochet designs for them.
The owl tin holds small spools of thread and my sewing needles.
More designs on the front of the ties and felt pockets on the backside to hold extras.  I kept the labels for nostalgia purposes.  Both Joske's and Frank Bros.  were popular stores in San Antonio.  They are no longer around but have fond memories for us.

This elephant outfit started out much like the one in the previous blog.  But it turned out a little different.  Sometimes, I have a problem sticking to a pattern.  Its as if the  creation taking shape "talks" to me and ends up different from what I started out with.  My problem here was that I did not make a pattern for the first elephant outfit and this one was pretty much pattern-less, too.

I hope to put this on Etsy soon;  right now, I can't seem to part with it.

Note to readers:  It has been posted.

Happy New Year!  Hopefully 2013 will be the start of a very prosperous and successful year for everyone.

Today, I made my first Etsy sale!  Really excited about that.  I just got back from the post office and the package is on its way.  I hope the purchaser will enjoy the layette she bought for a little baby boy.

I also wanted to post pictures of a gift item I made for a friend.  She had hinted for an elephant hat for the baby she was expecting and with several tries I was finally happy with the hat and diaper set.  Here are pictures she posted of the new baby in his outfit.  He still needs some growing into the outfit but that means he can probably wear if for a while.
